Dawn Sears, MD, FACG
TOPIC: 10+ Concepts to Strengthen your DREAM Life

Dr. Dawn Sears is a professor and practicing board-certified gastroenterologist/hepatologist who has focused much of her career and research on the well-being of her colleagues. She spearheaded the Women Leaders in Medicine, serving over 300 women physicians and moving the needle on engagement, retention and burnout. She has received multiple grants and awards for her work, including AMA, AMWA, TMA and The Physicians Foundation. She hosts women physician empowerment conferences (ACE and Emerge). As an ICF-certified Executive Coach, she regularly works with both private and institutionally based physicians. Her goal is to stop the hemorrhaging of women physicians from the healthcare workforce. She has served as Chief of Wellbeing, Program Director and on the board of directors and has led as Chief of Gastroenterology at multiple institutions. She currently proudly serves at the Veterans Administration Gastroenterology Division in North Texas and as a Clinical Professor at UT Southwestern, where she serves as an instructor, gastroenterologist and coach.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After attending the activity, the physician will be able to:

  1. Substitute self-criticism with self-compassion, and
  2. Implement new work and time strategies to improve efficiency and joy in work; and
  3. Explore their own 7 types of rest and learn how to improve deficits; and
  4. Discover their agency in asking for assistance, putting down their phone, trying new things, and having crucial conversations; and
  5. Learn specific strategies to address microaggressions, build community, and establish gratitude habits into their daily lives.
